Full-Time Senior Accountant

Join our team to help nonprofits manage money with mission! We are seeking a Senior Accountant to work with our nonprofit clients. In this role, you will partner with multiple clients by:

  • Managing day-to-day accounting needs and monthly close processes of clients as assigned.
  • Acting as a main contact for assigned clients to prepare and confirm monthly financials are completed accurately and on time.
  • Completing interim bank reconciliations, credit card entries, and making online payments for client credit cards, retirement contributions, and life and disability premiums.
  • Assisting with Bill.com transactions, following up on old checks and aging A/R items, and performing other AP/AR tasks as requested.
  • Obtaining bank statements, donor statements, and other documents through approved online access of the clients’ portals.
  • Creating/pulling reports as requested by clients.
  • Advising client on grant spending vs budget, coding of expenses, etc. Filing grant reports as needed for clients. Preparing projections and grant modifications to assist clients to fully spend grant funds.
  • Responding promptly to client inquiries and requests.
  • Cross training on other account leads’ clients to build redundancy and coverage.
  • Assisting with the onboarding process of new clients. Working together with assigned account lead to ensure a smooth transition.
  • Communicating with client about any changes in services or on-site arrangements. Fully understanding the scope of the contract and helping onboard the client.
  • Providing support to other staff as needed.
  • Providing any documentation requested by the auditors on behalf of the client.
  • Making sure final documents are complete and saved to client files.
  • Communicating with client and auditor regarding timeline, scope, and process of audit.
  • Reviewing draft audit for accuracy and communicating with client and auditor on any concerns that arrive during the process. Assisting client with implementing any auditor suggestions as needed.
  • Supervising accounting assistants, as assigned.
  • Fielding questions from accounting assistants.
  • Providing support to and performing other job duties as assigned by the Directors of Nonprofit Consulting.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance, or a related field is required.
  • 3 – 5 years’ experience in an equivalent position or suitable alternative is required.
  • High level of proficiency in QuickBooks and Excel is required.
  • Intermediate skills in Word and Outlook are required.
  • Familiarity with Teams and Office Tools is preferred.
  • Comfort with multitasking and concurrently managing the needs of multiple clients is required.
  • Familiarity with online bill payment software is preferred.
  • Professional demeanor and customer service skills are required.
  • Organization skills and attention to detail is required.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality is required.
  • Willingness to communicate responsively via various means – phone, email, text, in-person.
  • A reliable mode of transportation for traveling from home office to client sites and other meeting locations as needed is required.
  • A valid driver’s license and personal auto insurance is required.

Support Accountant | Remote

We are adding a Support Accountant to our team. The Support Accountant is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day bookkeeping, general accounting, and financial reporting for N4N’s clients. This role is imperative in supporting N4N’s nonprofit consultants and other staff with accounting projects as needed. You get to promote N4N clients’ missions through accurate, dependable, and timely performance of services and help nonprofits manage money with mission by:

  • Managing the day-to-day accounting needs and assigned tasks for multiple clients.
  • Supporting account leads and Nonprofit Accounting Consultants for assigned clients to ensure monthly financials are completed accurately and on time.
  • Completing interim bank reconciliations, credit card entry, and make online payments for client credit cards, retirement contributions, and life and disability premiums. 
  • Assisting with Bill.com transactions, follow up on old checks and aging AR items, and perform other AP/AR tasks as requested.
  • Filling in grant tracking spreadsheets with actuals. 
  • Being available for gathering questions from clients and creating an action plan with account leads.
  • Working with account leads to develop a cross-training plan to cover client work seamlessly as needed.
  • Entering daily/monthly transactions into financial software (QuickBooks or QuickBooks Online).
  • Reconciling and posting payroll entries and fixed assets.  Bring variances to the attention of the account lead.
  • Obtaining bank statements, donor statements, and other documents through approved online access of the clients’ portals.
  • Preparing and assembling monthly financial statements following review by account lead.
  • Creating/pulling reports as requested by clients or staff.
  • Assisting account leads with the audit season to meet or exceed deadlines.
  • Providing any documentation requested by the auditors on behalf of the client at the account lead’s request. 

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Associates degree in accounting, business, finance, or a related field is required.
  • 2-3 years’ experience in an equivalent position or suitable alternative is required.
  • Previous nonprofit experience is preferred.
  • QuickBooks experience with proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop and Online is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Excel is required.
  • Intermediate skills in Word and Outlook are required.
  • Comfort with multitasking and concurrently managing the needs of multiple clients is required. 
  • Familiarity with online bill payment software is preferred.
  • Professional demeanor and customer service skills is required.
  • Organization skills and attention to detail are required.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality is required.
  • Willingness to communicate responsively via various means – phone, email, text, in-person is required.
  • Occasional evening/weekend attendance at client events may be requested.
